Best Answer So far: Answered by: Violet Pearl - 1 Month Ago. In the Global Economy, the strength of any country is measured by the quality of their exports. With exports, you earn the currency that you need for imports, which then can be used to raise your standard of living. It's like any household, doing a job or selling a service to earn income.
Some well-endowed countries export natural resources, like Gold and Diamonds from South Africa, and Oil from Saudi Arabia, but those industries do not create a strong middle class for a sustainable economy.
Exports from strong economies include electronics from Japan and Taiwan, machinery from Germany and Sweden. These economies have an engineering focus.
What does America have? Salespeople, managers, and sales managers. What does America export? Financial instruments and derivatives. In America's money culture, you're focused on money, on making your accounting statements look good, on shuffling money around to create fake wealth. That's not real wealth. Thats not enduring wealth.
To win a war, you need to win battles. To win a sports game, you have to make good plays. So a strong economy requires each sector to be winning. Automotive is an example of how American industry has deteriorated. While Japan spent effort to improve their product, the Big 3 spent money on advertising. The resulting decline of General Motors, and the rise of Toyota was inevitable.
Real wealth is building something worthy, and having others respect you for that. You prove your worth, you feel valuable, and no amount of money can buy that.
Hopefully Americans can learn that, and then build a worthy economy.

 | What is a subprime mortgage? And how could it have caused the credit crisis? | 1 | |
| |
|
| In: Business.Finance Asked by: Rock Star - 1 Month Ago. Viewed 98 times | |
Best Answer So far: Answered by: sherwin - 1 Month Ago. Subprime mortgages are home loans made to people who would not, under normal circumstances, be ideal candidates to get a mortgage - thus they are "subprime." These mortgages have also been called the NINJA mortgages, standing for No Income, No Jobs or Assets.
Starting around 2005, U.S. lenders loosened their rules and began granting mortgages to borrowers who provided very little evidence of their income and ability to repay. The share of subprime mortgages to total originations rose from 5% in 1994 to 20% ($600 billion) in 2006. In 2005 the median down payment for first-time home buyers was 2%, with 43% of those buyers making no down payment whatsoever.
Many of these mortgages had very low initial interest rates, for the first six months to three years, but when that period ended the payments jumped sharply. Borrowers were led to believe that they would be able to refinance their homes at this point because the value of the property would have increased. With the slump in the housing market, many people defaulted on their mortgages and lost their homes.
Financial institutions borrowed enormous sums of money during 2004–2007 and made investments in mortgage-backed securities (MBS), essentially betting on the continued appreciation of home values and sustained mortgage payments. The seemingly endless income magnified profits during the housing boom period, but drove large losses after the bust. Financial institutions and individual investors holding MBS also suffered significant losses as a result of widespread and increasing mortgage payment defaults or MBS devaluation beginning in 2007 onward. | |

| In: Science.Chemistry Asked by: ASDFGHJKL123456789 - 2 Months Ago. Viewed 105 times | |
Best Answer So far: Answered by: EricC - 1 Month Ago. A simple circuit in electricity is the simplest system that allows for the stable flow of electricity. A simple circuit contains at the minimum three things:
1) A source of electrical energy, typically a battery or electrical outlet.
2) A conductive path which would allow for the movement of charges, typically made of wire.
3) An electrical resistance (resistor) which is loosely defined as any object that uses electricity to do work. (a light bulb, electric motor, heating element, speaker, etc.)
